Latest Annual Report
The Botswana IFSC initiative continues to grow this year welcoming the significant companies and introducing new legislation and regulations that should underpin future growth.
The Certification committee approved Western Power Corridor, an administrative headquarters company for a larger power project being planned. This is in addition to Botswana Africa Mining Fund, Dominion Bank Holdings and Pangaea Development Holdings which were also accredited in the last year of the operation.
In addition, Botswana IFSC has made substantial headway in working with policy-makers in updating the legislative framework to ensure it remains cognizant of trends in the cross-border financial services sector. This year marked the promulgation of International Insurance Regulations. Specific regulations under the Companies Act were also introduced to allow companies to denominate share capital in major foreign currencies.
Finally over 400 people, mainly young Batswana graduates, participated in the third annual career fair. Additionally work is ongoing on the development of a more comprehensive job portal to replace the existing CV database that has over 3900 job seekers.
